If calculus feels difficult, first check the algebra, functions and trigonometry underneath it. A student who knows a differentiation rule may still lose the solution when rearranging an equation or interpreting the graph. I use a short diagnostic to choose a useful starting point.
For example, if a particle has velocity v(t) = 3tยฒ โ 12 on 0 โค t โค 3, its displacement is the integral of velocity, which is โ9 units. Total distance needs a different calculation: split at t = 2, where velocity changes sign, and add the magnitudes to obtain 23 units. A lesson connects that distinction to the graph and the written explanation.
