IGCSE students who need systematic topic coverage, past-paper practice and stronger confidence before exams.
Start with the exact qualification: bring your exam board, syllabus code, exam year and school tier or route. Cambridge and Edexcel papers should not be treated as interchangeable; lesson practice follows the specification your school has entered you for.
For example, solving 3(x โ 2) = 12 requires both a correct expansion and an inverse operation. I ask the student to explain each step, reach x = 6, and substitute it into the original equation. If expansion is the difficulty, a full timed paper is not yet the most useful practice.
Once the method is secure, practise a related question without prompts and then a mixed set. Keep a short record of whether each lost mark came from a concept, an arithmetic slip, missing working, units or timing. That record determines the next lesson.
For a paid introductory session, bring a recent marked test and the date of the next school assessment. I review a priority gap, teach a relevant example and discuss a realistic practice plan. Longer-term tutoring can then follow the school course or focus on revision.
